So, what’s it like coming to Church?  Isn’t it really boring?  Won’t everyone expect me to know what I’m doing?  Will it be confusing? Will I encounter God? Will I find the answer I am looking for?

We love the bible verse ‘Come, taste and see that the Lord is good’ and that is what we hope will happen if you come to either All Saints or St. Andrews on a Sunday. At All Saints we offer two services each Sunday, each has a different style, so that we can try and cater for different needs. St. Andrews has one service at 10:30am every Sunday, and a 6pm quiet Encounter service once a month on the 3rd Sunday.

9:00 at All Saints (1st and 3rd Sunday) – It’s the most traditional service we have. The service doesn’t change much week to week, so it’s easy to feel comfortable after a few weeks.  The service is what you would imagine a traditional Church of England service to be like. If you’re new, someone will probably offer to sit next to you and help you feel confident and explain anything you don’t understand. If you’d like to stay and chat afterwards tea and coffee is available after the service.

10:30 at St. Andrews – This service has a slightly different feel each week but mainly follows a café style of church. Our Cafe Church offers something for everyone! We begin with a time of worship, a reading from the Bible and a thought for the day. Then we have time to encounter God in a variety of activities, including Bible study, craft and prayer. On the third Sunday of every month we share Holy Communion together. There is always an opportunity to sit and chat over a cup of coffee after every service.

11am at All Saints – This service is informal. There is a creche for little ones, and children and young people aged 4-18 normally leave the service early on to join their own groups.  The songs tend to be more modern and the words are displayed on a screen.  If the idea of singing doesn’t fill you with joy, you are really welcome to just listen to the words.  This service usually lasts about an hour and there will normally be a chance to receive personal prayer support at the end of the service if you would appreciate this. There is always tea and coffee served after the service.
On the first Sunday of the month is what we call our Altogether Service. It is a bit shorter, hopefully around 45 minutes and definitely no more than an hour. The service is aimed at the whole family. We believe passionately that we as adult Christians not only have something precious to share with our children, but also that young people have so much that they can teach us about the love of God, faith in Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit. You will often find crafts, activities and a bible story that is made relevant to all ages as part of this service. We celebrate Communion together on the third Sunday of each month together and always finish with drinks and cake.

6pm at All Saints (2nd and 4th Sunday) – Our evening service is aimed at those who are at work or busy during the day. It lasts less than an hour, and alternates with Holy Communion generally on the 2nd Sunday and regular service on the 4th Sunday. The service is what you would imagine a traditional Church of England service to be like. If you’re new, someone will probably offer to sit next to you and help you feel confident and explain anything you don’t understand. If you’d like to stay and chat afterwards tea and coffee is available after the service.

6pm Encounter at St. Andrews (3rd Sunday) – Once a month we gather for a more reflective service. The service has some simple liturgy, a few reflective worship songs and a simple prayer activity. It lasts for around 40 minutes and is aimed at those who are busy and wish to spend some time quietly encountering Jesus.
If you’ve not given Church a try for a while, we’d love so meet you and you’ll always be welcome at All Saints or St. Andrews.
