Eco Church is A Rocha UK’s award scheme for churches in England and Wales who want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth, and Bedworth Parish is part of it!
On behalf of the PCC a small working group started by Chris Rigden have completed the free online survey looking to help the church to express our care for God’s world in our worship and teaching; in how we look after our buildings and land; in how we engage with our local community and in global campaigns, and in the personal lifestyles of our congregation.
We are now looking towards gaining the prestigious Eco Church Award at Bronze level initially. The vision is for the church to care for creation as an integral part of loving their neighbours and following God faithfully.
The scheme is supported by A Rocha, Christian Aid, Tear Fund, The Church of England and the Methodist Church.
So far we have looked at small initiatives such as putting a notice on the church bulletin about environmental issues and getting the church web site linked to the Eco-church website. We have a specialised recycling station upstairs and actively recycle everything that is disposed of in our churches.
What can you do?
