If you would like to book a wedding, please come along to a Sunday service and someone will be available afterwards to deal with your request. Similarly, if you need your Banns of Marriage reading here because you are being married in another church, please come along any Sunday morning at 11 am.
Alternatively please contact the parish office and arrange to attend the Tuesday evening surgery from 6pm to 7pm when the parish office is open for booking weddings, reading of banns and baptisms. Every couple’s requirements are different and personal for their wedding day. A member of the clergy team will get in touch after you have made the initial booking to meet up to plan your wedding and chat through what arrangements need to be made.
To make a firm booking, we ask that both parties are present to sign the application form and we require proof of identity. We also ask for a non-returnable £50 deposit to secure the booking. The fees for weddings increase on the 1st January each year (within the Church of England certain fees are set centrally by the Church Commissioners). You will need to pay the fees set for the year of your wedding. More information on fees and payment will be given when you come to book your wedding. For a list of fees for 2019 see here.

Why marry in church?
Here are a few reasons why we think that as a couple you should consider getting married in Church.
Marriage Preparation Course
Bedworth Parish offers a marriage preparation course for all those getting married. All couples marrying in Bedworth are invited along to talk about building strong and lasting relationships. Whilst based on Christian principles, it is relevant & helpful for any engaged couple with or without a Christian faith or church background. Just like everything else with your wedding day, actually preparing as a couple for marriage is really important. Research shows that the most influential single activity that reduces divorce rates for couples is attending a marriage preparation course. It is because of this research that we ask all couples getting married at in Bedworth to attend a marriage preparation course. However, we don’t believe that the course is like taking medicine – horrible, but ultimately good for you. The feedback from the couples who did it last year was really good, with all of them saying they enjoyed it and would recommend it to other couples.
Here are some comments from the last course that we ran:
“We were very sceptical about the course but we have found it very beneficial and are very glad that we took part in it”
“Fantastic course and very helpful”
“Clarified our expectations for our marriage”
“The best bits for us was the DVD, and meeting other couples and sharing experiences.”
Some couples who are already cohabiting will sometimes feel as if they know each other really well and that they haven’t got anything more to learn. However, this same research also showed that cohabiting couples who then get married are much more likely to then have unhappy marriages and to get divorced. We do not want in any way to make a judgment on whether couples live together before they get married, but we really do want every marriage to be happy and life long, and wish to do what we can to facilitate that. That is why we are running this course and strongly advise you to come along. It is a brilliant way of giving each other time when life is very busy with all the other preparations and of in investing in your relationship.
The course runs over 5 consecutive Tuesday evenings. The course is run by a small group of volunteers and is based on a course developed by Nicky and Sila Lee, who have been married for over 30 years and speak regularly on relationships and marriage preparation. It is designed for any engaged couple wishing to build a strong and lasting relationship. While based on Christian principles, it is relevant and helpful for any engaged couple with or without a Christian faith or church background.
Topics covered include:
It begins with supper at 7.30 p.m. and a chance to meet with the other couples preparing to get married and it finishes at 9.30 p.m. Following supper there is a talk either live or on DVD and time for each couple to share privately together. Your privacy is completely respected and there is no group work, though there is the chance to discuss issues with a married ‘support couple’ if you wish. You will receive a booklet with material and questions to think through together. There is no cost to do the course, it’s our gift to you.
If you know people who may be interested in coming along please mention it to them – it doesn’t matter if they are getting married in another church.

Why marry in church?
Here are a few reasons why we think that as a couple you should consider getting married in Church.
- Churches are special places and there are some things about a church wedding that you just can’t get anywhere else.
- A church is so much more than simply a venue for your wedding. Unique and special things become part of your marriage, on the day itself and beyond:
- A church wedding will add a spiritual dimension to your marriage. The ceremony includes God and looks to him for help and guidance. God’s blessing is the main attraction for many couples, whatever their beliefs.
- You can make amazing vows, or promises, in a church. You can only make vows this big in a church. These vows, made in public, will help you to stay together and grow together. God and your church are there for you to help you keep your vows.
- The Rector has a very particular role to play in your wedding. They can blend ancient tradition and modern experience to reflect your story. Because of the relationship with the Rector, your wedding can be made personal, memorable, meaningful and beautiful.
- Church buildings offer outstanding beauty. Old or new, intimate or grand, our 16,000 churches are some of the nation’s most stunning wedding venues, with two-thirds being listed buildings.
- Church buildings offer centuries of history. Imagine all the couples who have married in your local church, some of whom may well be within your wider family. You can feel you’re becoming part of history itself, the bigger plan, by marrying in the same place as your relatives. We know these sorts of connections can make your day even more special.
- You can be involved in making choices about your ceremony. You can even use our online ceremony planner to get you started.
- For some people, a church simply seems like the proper place to get married. Churches can be described as ‘peaceful’, ‘serene’, or having an atmosphere that makes marrying there a particularly special experience.
- And after your wedding, you’ll realise that a church is more than simply a wedding venue.
