Welcome to One Friday
There is a tradition that after the death and resurrection of Jesus, his mother Mary retraced the steps Jesus took to on his way to the cross. Along the way she paused to remember what had happened. Out of this grew a Church tradition in Jerusalem, which continues to this day of walking the Via Dolorosa.
People would travel to Jerusalem to walk the Via Dolorosa and when they came home they would talk to others about their experiences.
This led to some churches erecting their journey of the cross as pictures or carvings around the building to allow other people to walk and remember this painful journey to the cross, to the tomb and finally to the resurrection.
We are limited as to what we can do this year. We have created a journey around our church and grounds with stops along the way. At each stop you can explore a little of the horrific events of one friday.
Each stop has three options.
Choose your option, there is more information in the booklet and QR codes on the posters to discover more about each stop.
Enjoy your journey
